Day 1: Rusizi National Park-Teza Tea Farms-Kibira National Park
On this day you will drive to Rusizi National Park for a morning boat cruise. The Park is the
most famous National park in Burundi and reserves at the same time being the most visited
of all due to the most enriched wildlife; birds, crocodiles and hippos on River Rusizi. It offers
you an excellent opportunity to see the magic meeting point between the Lake Tanganyika
and Rusizi River, Bujumbura and DRC panoramic views.
Then, you will definitely drive to the countryside through gorgeous landscapes to visit Teza
Tea Plantation. Nestled in the picturesque province of Muramvya, it offers a stunning
panorama of rolling green hills carpeted with vibrant tea plants. This is an attraction where
visitors can immerse themselves in the captivating beauty of nature.
Known to be the first tea farm and factory created in Burundi and highly renowned for its high-
quality tea production, it profits the Kibira National Park proximity. As you explore the tea

Our visit proceeds to Kibira National Park known to be the sacred forest, a verdant expanse
nestled in the heart of Burundi; a true gem of Central Africa. This “dark forest,” as its name
suggests in the Kirundi dialect, is a vital ecosystem supporting local communities while
holding immense global significance.
Spanning approximately 40,000 ha across the provinces of Kayanza, Muramvya, Bubanza,
and Cibitoke, Kibira National Park is a haven for an array of flora and fauna. Its mountainous
terrain, ranging from 1,600 to 2,700 meters in elevation, creates a diverse habitat for
numerous plant and animal species.
Beyond its ecological importance, Kibira has inspired countless legends and folk tales,

Day 2: Ku Mahoro hot Springs water- Rwegura Dam-Bird’s Lake
After your breakfast, you will drive to the hot springs water known to have therapeutic benefits,
promoting relaxation and muscle recovery. Ku Mahoro hot springs water is located inside the
Kibira National Park. You navigate the road crossing the park, an opportunity to get closer to
green and natural sceneries. There are separate pools with different temperatures. But It’s
not too hot, but warm enough for a good swim.
As you drive towards the North of the country for Bird’s Lake, stop by Rwegura dam which is
a Hydroelectric Power Station which came into operation 1986.The plant supplies the
surrounding region and other cities. The Rwegura Dam impounding the Gitenge River flowing
from Kayanza Province crossing the Kibira park offers a stunning view at the horizon.
Bird’s Lake, also known as Rwihinda Lake, is a true paradise located in Kirundo Province,
Burundi. This captivating lake is a haven for a diverse array of bird species, making it a must-
visit destination for birdwatchers, nature enthusiasts, boat trips which offers you a great way
to observe birds and other aquatic life up close. Whether you’re a passionate birdwatcher or

Day 3: Intore Dancers (King’s Warriors)-Gishora drummers-Gitega National Museum
This is the day dedicated to cultural celebration and experience from North to the centre of
the country driving through stunning landscapes. After your breakfast, drive to the Intore
community. The Intore dancers formerly known as King’s warriors are a specialty of Burundi’s
northern Bugesera-Busoni region in Kirundo province. They are as well-known as drummers,
and take part in national events alongside them. They are a must for any festive occasion.
This dance is called INTORE, the dancers show themselves to the king as they leave the
battle, defeated or victorious, they must show themselves, showing strength and joy that they
have not abandoned the battle nor abandoned the stone to catch the beast. This is what they
have come to pay for the king. A bond of unity and peace. This dance is known as the battle
dance as if sacrificed by the national army going to or coming from war. They have a set of
tools and decorations that are meaningful with regard to their mission.
The second must-stop is Gishora drum sanctuary in Gitega province; the country’s political
capital. Gishora is today the main royal drum sanctuary of the ancient kingdom of Burundi to
perpetuate this tradition. Then, visit the famous drum sanctuary site of Gishora in Burundi. In
Burundi, the drums were the pillar of the political power of the monarchy. They were made
and beaten on special occasions by specialized families called ‘Abatimbo’ in important places,
announcing great events of the country like the royal enthronement, the sowing festival, the
funerals of the kings and gave the rhythm of regular seasons. The site also houses two ritual
drums that were never beaten. The Ruciteme and Murimirwa respectively. These two names
are linked to the farming vocation and also refer to fertility in the local language, the king’s
features.
The uniqueness of the royal residence lies in its architecture and construction techniques. As
you visit Gishora Drum Sanctuary expect a captivating drum performance by skilled
drummers, Palace visit to explore the historical palace and learn about its significance,
interact with the community and definitely do shopping of unique handmade crafts for
souvenirs.
You will also visit Gitega National Museum with its collection of art crafts along colonial
infrastructure. Its collection includes ethnographic and historical objects originating in the
country, including artefacts from the court of the Burundian monarchs.

Day 4: Karera Waterfalls- Source of Nile & Pyramid
On this 4th day of exploring Burundi, you will head to Karera Water Falls after eating your
breakfast. It’s a breathtaking cascade located in Rutana, is a must-visit destination for nature
enthusiasts and adventure seekers alike. Situated in Rutana, this natural wonder is
approximately a three and half hour drive away from Bujumbura.
A majestic spectacle covers an expansive area of 142 ha. The Karera Falls comprises five
stunning branches cascading over three levels, creating a mesmerizing spectacle;
recognizing its ecological and cultural significance, the Karera Falls and Grotto were declared
a protected area in 1980, ensuring the preservation of this pristine environment for future
generations. A beautiful hanging bridge was erected to offer a unique perspective of the falls,
allowing visitors to appreciate the sheer force and beauty of the water from a new angle. As
you traverse the bridge, the rhythmic sway and the sound of rushing water below create an
exhilarating experience.
Per your visit to Karera Falls you’ll enjoy hiking to explore the surrounding area and discover
hidden trails leading to breathtaking viewpoints, picnicking which offers a leisurely picnic

Would you have a complementary experience as you have a stop at the Nile Source and
Pyramid; the longest river in Africa. With 6,671 km long, the River Nile flows through 6 African
countries: Burundi, Rwanda, Uganda, Tanzania, Sudan and Egypt. Its source has long
remained unknown till 1934 when Burckhart Waldecker discovered the southernmost spring
in Burundi’s Rutovu commune, in Bururi province.

Day 5: Bururi Natural Reserve- Mawimbi Beach
After having a short briefing on Bururi Reserve early in the morning, then you set off for the
chimps trekking. Bururi Natural Reserve is a major magnet for scientific research, particularly
into biodiversity and climate change. Elevated at 1800 and 2300 m, it offers a range of
activities including Chimps trekking (in both seasons but you are more likely to see them in
summer season), Hiking, Camping and Research for scientists
In addition to its hydrographic importance, Bururi forest remains a valuable economic,
scientific and tourist resource. Like the Kibira Forest, Bururi Natural Reserve is a tropical
mountain rainforest rich in species of flora and fauna, many of which are endemic to the
Albertine Rift region.
After such a long nature walk trekking chimps, you will definitely need some time to relax and
stretch out on beach. Mawimbi beach is an ideal spot for you at the sunset enjoying the
Tanganyika fresh air at the same time watching waves to finally embark on a deep meditation.

Day 6: Boat Cruise-Livingstone and Stanley monument
After such a relaxing night on the beach and unparalleled breakfast, have an early morning
boat cruise in a relaxed mood loaded with beautiful music on the Lake Tanganyika. This drive
offers the panoramic and stunning views of the hills and dive in the water to feel the beauty
of Lake Tanganyika fresh water. Then after your lunch, drive back to Bujumbura and visit
Livingstone and Stanley Monument.

Payment Policies
We confirm this tour on 50% of the total amount deposit though western union or Bank wire transfer.
We also advise to book your tour earlier as possible because visit permits and hotels get
overbooked during in high season. This is to avoid any disturbance or unexpected change on your
program.
Our cancellation Policies
The amount deposed on our account is directly used to secure your visit permits and hotels on
which we don’t have any control. However, many of our chosen hotels and partners are flexible to
return the money at 90 % when your cancellation is announced one month in advance.
Our meal
All Meals are provided at your Hotel and in reputed restaurants at your convenience. However, we
do advise one to carry some snacks according to your convenience during your expeditions.
Health and travel insurance
Insurance is not part of our offer for all our trips and safaris. All clients should buy their insurance
before arrival. As there are sometimes mosquitoes in the wild areas, visitors need to bring anti-
malarial tablets or carry mosquito repellent as one of the preventive ways but mosquito nets are
available in all rooms.
